LAFLIN — The Laflin Library Association members met for its annual dinner meeting to commemorate National Library Week.
During National Library Week, local author Barbara Taylor was present at the Laflin Library’s book club to discuss her book “All Waiting is Long.”
As Taylor reviewed the book, answering questions and drawing out numerous questions from the group present, it was interesting to note how she researches her work. She spent hours doing research, even reviewing microfilm from the 1930s in coal country.
Many of those present had family members – grandfathers, great grandfathers, uncles, who were coal miners. Many remembered stories told by their family members which coincided with stories told by the author. Another interest fact was that the author stated the book tends to “write itself” as the author becomes a part of the story.
Taylor is working on a sequel to this book which is eagerly awaited by the book club.
