FORTY FORT — Clark Switzer, of West Pittston, chair of the social studies department at Wyoming Seminary Lower School, recently attended the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) National Continental Congress in Washington, D.C.
In April, he was named the DAR 2019 Outstanding Teacher of American History for the state of Pennsylvania and was nominated for the DAR’s National Outstanding Teacher of American History Award.
Switzer teaches eighth-grade American history and has been a member of the social studies faculty at Wyoming Seminary for 43 years. He also has produced documentaries about Wyoming Valley history and authored an online local history textbook, titled “Scratching the Surface,’ which is available to the public.
He is active on the boards of the Irem Temple Restoration Project and the Greater Pittston Cultural Coalition, is a member of the Luzerne County Historical Society and serves as a lecturer and presenter on local history topics.
