The Greater Pittston Junior American Legion baseball team opened July with victories on each of the first two days.
The team is 5-6 after starting 0-3.
Greater Pittston 16, Breaker Boys/Red Dogs 4
Josh Chaump and Jack Borino each went 3-for-3 Thursday to lead the six-inning, road victory.
Chaump drove in five runs.
Borino tripled, scored four times, and drove in two runs. He led off the eight-run top of the sixth that helped secure the victory early and scored the first run of the inning on a Chaump single.
Chaump also drove in the last run of the inning when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Ethan Swan, Max Baldoni, and Avery Timms each had two hits. Swan scored three times. Baldoni scored twice and drove in two runs. Timms scored twice.
Rocky Barge doubled in two runs in the sixth.
Caleb Pavinski struck out four in two perfect innings to finish off a combined three-hitter with Barge.
Greater Pittston 11, Breaker Boys/Red Dogs 10
Greater Pittston opened an 11-0 lead after two innings, then held on from there Wednesday.
Starting pitcher Marcus Collins struck out six and did not allow an earned run in 4 2/3 innings, but Breaker Boys/Red Dogs rallied with the help of seven errors.
Josh Chaump, Jack Borino, and Avery Timms had two hits each. Chaump drove in two runs while Borino scored twice.
Breaker Boys/Red Dogs 8, Greater Pittston 4
Max Baldoni singled in two runs in the top of the second for a 4-0 lead Monday, but the Breaker Boys/Red Dogs scored the last eight runs to pull out the victory.
Back Mountain 9, Greater Pittston 8
Back Mountain scored seven runs in the first inning, but still needed a two-run rally in the bottom of the sixth to pull out the victory on June 27.
Brayden Yonki, who doubled and singled, and Ethan Swan each drove in three runs in the loss.
Max Baldoni also had two hits, Nico Wardell scored three times, and Marcus Collins reached in all three plate appearances with a single, two walks, and a run scored.
Josh Chaump allowed just one unearned run on two hits in 4 2/3 innings of relief.
