Pittston Area’s Kacie Fisk and Morgan Gromelski placed in both individual and relay events Feb. 29 when the District 2-4 Class 3A Subregional Swimming Championships came to a close at the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center.
Fisk placed 10th in the 100-yard backstroke and led off the ninth-place 200 freestyle relay team, which included Gromelski.
Gromelski was 12th in the 100 breaststroke.
They helped Pittston Area score 43 points to place ninth out of 10 teams in the girls standings.
Williamsport won the team title, 343-311, over Delaware Valley.
Olivia Norwillo and Ella Hoban were also on the 200 relay.
Cassie Hintze, Bella Petrucci, Kylie Herbert and Peyton Spindler placed seventh in the 400 freestyle relay.
The Pittston Area boys used the same relay combination to finish fourth in the 400 freestyle and eighth in the 200 freestyle.
The teams were made up of Zack Gregory, Billy Bonczak, St. Raphael Moncer-Boncy and Jake Gregory.
Pittston Area was last among nine teams with 32 points.
Delaware Valley beat out Hazleton Area, 336-258, for the team title.
The Wyoming Area girls finished the two-day District 2 Class 2A meet in 12th place out of 15 teams with 18 points.
Scranton Prep won the team title, 347-237, over Dallas.
Olivia Borys, Sofia Sabatini, Becca Dymond and Julia Crane placed 10th in the 200 freestyle relay.
The Wyoming Area boys were also 10th in the same event with a team of J.T. Gober, Tommy Lynch, Benjamin Canfield and Joe Gacek.
The Warriors finished last of 13 teams with eight points.
Dallas won the team title, 285-186½, over Wyoming Seminary.
