Ella Rau and Morgan Slusser from Wyoming Area rallied for a first-round victory before being eliminated from the District 2 girls tennis doubles tournament.
Rau-Slusser defeated Montrose’s Annabel Adams-Olivia Aukema, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, in the preliminary round that trimmed the Class 2A field from 34 teams to 32 at Kirby Park Oct. 23.
Both Wyoming Area teams were eliminated by seeded opponents in the first full round.
Wyoming Seminary’s Ella Krypel-Ilana Rosenthal, the second-seeded team and an eventual finalist, defeated Rau-Slusser, 6-0, 6-0.
The fourth-seeded Dallas team of Caroline Stallard-Audrey DelGaudio also won, 6-0, 6-0, over Wyoming Area’s Cadance Cable-Ana Vacula.
Pittston Area entered just one team.
Crestwood’s Samantha Olszyk-Madison Van Gorden defeated Katie Koss-Laura Farber, 6-1, 6-4.
