WHITEHALL — Isabella Pisano once again picked the right time to pick up her scoring pace.

The junior midfielder/forward from Hughestown had just two goals in the first 22 games for the Wyoming Seminary field hockey team this season before scoring two each in both the state semifinals and final.

Pisano scored what proved to be the game-winner in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class A championship game for the second straight season, getting Wyoming Seminary started in a 6-0 rout of Oley Valley Nov. 20 at the Zephyr Sports Complex.

The Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 and District 2 Class A champions became the first field hockey team in state history to win four straight state titles.

Pisano has been a big part of the title streak since transferring to Wyoming Seminary after playing her freshman season at Pittston Area.

As a sophomore, Pisano scored on her own rebound in the second quarter to send Wyoming Seminary on the way to a 3-0 victory over Greenwood in the state final.

Pisano scored 12 goals and assisted on two in the 2020 season when she put together a six-game, goal-scoring streak to finish third on the team in scoring. She had pair of two-goal playoff games, one against Hanover Area in the District 2 tournament and the other against New Hope-Solebury in the state quarterfinals.

Playoff production remains a big part of Pisano’s game. She now has seven goals in seven career state tournament games, well above her regular-season scoring rate and five of her six goals this season came in the playoffs, including one in the district tournament.

Pisano opened the scoring with 5:42 left in the first quarter in the biggest state championship game rout in the 48-year history of the field hockey tournament. She connected again on a reverse sweep off a penalty corner play to make it 4-0 early in the fourth quarter.
