Sarah Holweg hit a 3-pointer for the team’s final points Tuesday when West Chester University returned from its holiday break to face Division I George Washington University.
Holweg, a 5-foot-7 senior guard from Wyoming Area, played the last 7:43 and made one of her two 3-point attempts in the 64-31 loss in Washington, D.C.
The loss was the fifth straight for the Golden Rams, a National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II team with a 3-8 overall record. West Chester is 1-4 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference going into the return to league play Jan. 5 at Kutztown University.
Holweg has appeared in eight of the 11 games, playing 46 minutes. Her season-highs in minutes (14) and points (six) came when she made both her 3-point attempts Nov. 21 in an 80-68 loss to Chestnut Hill.
On the season, Holweg is 3-for-11 (27.3 percent) from the floor, 3-for-9 on 3-pointers (33.3 percent) and 1-for-2 on free throws. She has 11 rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Because of West Chester sitting out last season as a COVID precaution, Holweg has a year of eligibility remaining after this season if she chooses to extend her college career.
