Bloomsburg University second baseman Kyle OFier was named both Atlantic Region and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Player of the Week Tuesday after hitting seven home runs in the week that ended April 17.
The fifth-year senior from Pittston Area became the school’s all-time home run leader during the week, which included a trio of two-homer games and another homer for seven in five games.
OFier was 9-for-23 with 12 RBI and eight runs scored during the week in which he also closed in on the school’s career record for RBI.
On the season, OFier is second in the PSAC, two behind teammate Ben Newbert with 14 home runs.
The Huskies ended the week ninth in the country among National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II teams in home runs per game (1.75) and 14th in total home runs (61).
OFier went into this weekend with 14 home runs, 35 RBI and a .281 average this season. That pushed his career totals to 42 home runs, 162 RBI and a .284 average. He also has 38 doubles, 12 stolen bases and 151 runs scored.
Bloomsburg is 10-5-1 in the PSAC and 21-14-1 overall.
OFier is a returning first-team PSAC all-star and second-team, All-Atlantic Region selection.
