J.J. Walsh led the King’s College men’s basketball team in scoring in its season opener.
The 5-foot-11 freshman guard from Pittston Area came off the bench to score 13 points in 20 minutes during Tuesday’s 81-47 victory over Penn State Scranton.
Walsh was 5-for-10 from the floor, including 3-for-8 on 3-pointers. He also had three rebounds, three assists, two steals and a blocked shot.
The Monarchs made it to 2-0 Friday night with an 85-50 rout of Penn State Hazleton.
Patrick Bennie, a 6-foot-2 sophomore forward, scored in double figures against Penn State Hazleton.
Bennie, a graduate of Holy Cross High School in Dunmore from Pittston, was 3-for-3 from the floor and 4-for-6 from the line. He had three rebounds and a steal.
Walsh was 1-for-5, all on attempts from 3-point range, in 13 minutes against Penn State Hazleton. He finished with two points, a defensive rebound and an assist.
Bennie opened the season with for points, four rebounds and two assists against Penn State Scranton. He played 23 minutes, was 1-for-2 from the floor and made both his free throws.
