Freshman Alexa Gasek tossed a four-inning, no-hitter while Morgan Janeski slammed a pair of grand slams Wednesday as Wyoming Area shut out Hanover Area, 18-0, in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 game.

Gasek struck out seven and walked three while contributing to an 18-hit attack with a double, triple and two RBI.

Janeski and Kayla Leo led the offense as Wyoming Area improved to 2-0 in the division and 2-1 overall.

In addition to the grand slams, Janeski also doubled to finish 3-for-4.

Leo went 4-for-4 with two doubles and drove in five runs.

Jocelyn Williams went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI.

Olivia Allen was 2-for-2 with a homer.

Pittston Area 10, Wyoming Valley West 0

Gianna Adams struck out 15 in a two-hitter as Pittston Area opened its Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state Class 5A title defense Tuesday with a six-inning victory over Wyoming Valley West in a WVC Division 1 game.

Adams also drove in three runs as the Lady Patriots won their 26th straight.

Gabby Gorzkowski went 3-for-4 with three run. Marina Antal had a single and double. Kallie Booth and Ava Callahan also had two hits.

Pittston Area scored four times in the bottom of the fourth, another run in the fifth, then closed out the game on the 10-run rule with three more runs in the sixth.

Wyoming Area 13, Wyoming Seminary 1

Kayla Leo went 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI as Wyoming Area defeated visiting Wyoming Seminary in five innings Monday to open its WVC Division 2 season.

The Lady Warriors had 18 hits to back Alexa Gasek, who struck out seven in a complete game.

Wyoming Area scored seven runs in the bottom of the second for a 10-1 lead.

Jocelyn Williams also had three hits. Morgan Janeski and Gasek had two hits and two RBI. Olivia Allen had two hits.
