Wyoming Area’s hopes of having a chance to defend the District 2 Class 4A baseball title that it won the past two seasons continued to fade when the Warriors dropped three games this week as their losing streak reached seven games.
The Warriors are 2-8 in Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 and 2-14 overall with four games remaining. They are last among 10 teams trying to land eight spots in the Class 4A tournament.
Crestwood 2, Wyoming Area 0
Casey Noone limited Crestwood to two runs while going the distance in Friday’s non-league game, but Wyoming Area only managed three singles offensively.
Noone gave up six hits while walking one and striking out six.
Jeremy Layland had two of the three Wyoming Area hits. Jacob Snyder had the other.
Holy Redeemer 11, Wyoming Area 3
Holy Redeemer clinched at least a tie for first place in WVC Division 2 with Thursday’s home-field victory.
The Royals improved to 9-1 in the division.
Jack Mathis and Cameron Moser had two hits each for the Warriors.
Lake-Lehman 16, Wyoming Area 6
Lake-Lehman banged out 10 hits in five innings to win the WVC Division 2 game at Wyoming Area Monday on the 10-run rule.
Chris Sholtis homered, tripled and doubled twice for the Black Knights. Jeremy Naugle also homered and drove in four runs. Graedon Finarelli had three doubles.
Nate Novakowski, who had a triple, and Jacob Snyder, who had two hits, each drove in two Wyoming Area runs.
