Ella McKernan and Lyla Rehill each scored two goals and assisted on another in Wednesday’s victory at Atlas Field.
The Warriors came into Wednesday with at least a first-place tie already secured. The win meant they claimed the title outright without needing a playoff.
Sisters Lucia and Ella Campenni each added a goal and an assist as the Lady Warriors ran their division winning streak to 21 games and their overall regular-season streak to 30 games.
The Lady Warriors have increased their scoring by 1.5 goals per game this season while maintaining their defensive numbers.
“We’re always hoping to get better,” said coach Bree Bednarski, a state record-setting scorer during her days as a player at Wyoming Area. “We’re really been working on scoring at practice, finding the cage; getting good shots off; good touches.
“It’s finally starting to pay off a bit for us.”
Rehill, a Rutgers University commit, has 31 goals and 15 assists to lead the team.
Juliana Gonzales opened the scoring 1:15 into the game.
Wyoming Area scored off penalty corners twice in the second quarter to take a 3-1 lead at halftime.
Ella Campenni scored early in the second half, then the Warriors added three goals in the last 12½ minutes.
Ainsley Flynn and Krea Bonita also had assists.
Lucia Campenni and Ella McKernan join Rehill in averaging at least a goal per game.
Campenni has 21 goals while McKernan has 16. Each has also contributed 10 assists.
The Lady Warriors combine the benefits of six seniors who are multi-year starters with a boost from three major contributions from the freshman class.
Gonzales, one of the seniors, is fourth in goals with 10.
Claudia Rehill, Lyla’s freshman sister, is fourth in assists with five while showing the ability to play anywhere on the field.
Talia Pizano, who has six goals, and Ella Campenni are also freshmen.
