Wyoming Area assured itself of a winning overall record with three wins in the final week of the regular season.

The Lady Warriors posted consecutive shutouts Tuesday and Wednesday and added another win when MMI Prep forfeited its final two games of the season.

Wyoming Area finished fourth in Division 2 of the Wyoming Valley Conference. Lake-Lehman went 11-1 for the division title, followed by Holy Redeemer at 10-2, Berwick 8-4, Wyoming Area, Hanover Area 4-8, Nanticoke 2-10 and MMI Prep 0-12.

The Lady Warriors (11-9 overall) are fifth in the District 2 Class 4A playoff ratings and expected to have a quarterfinal game at fourth-seeded Wallenpaupack (8-8) when District 2 releases the pairings Sunday.

Holy Redeemer 6, Wyoming Area 1

Anne Carter struck out 10 in a three-hitter and doubled in the game-winning run in the fourth inning to help Holy Redeemer to victory in Friday’s WVC Division 2 finale.

Alexa Gasek singled in the only Wyoming Area run in the bottom of the third.

Wyoming Area 8, Old Forge 0

Alexa Gasek struck out five and walked just one in Wednesday’s three-hit shutout to lead Wyoming Area to the non-league win at Old Forge.

Kaia Brown went 3-for-4 with two runs scored to lead the offense.

Josie Kivak, Arianna Gaylord and Aubrey Lewis each drove in two runs.

Marissa Giardina scored three times and had two hits. Gaylord and Allison Layland also had two hits.

Wyoming Area 10, Nanticoke 0

Alexa Gasek struck out five in four innings of relief and drove in three runs Tuesday to lead host Wyoming Area to the five-inning victory in the WVC Division 2 game.

Gasek brought in the runs with a bases-loaded, two-out double in the fourth inning to make the lead 6-0.

Kaia Brown doubled in the first two runs in the third inning.

Addison Gaylord scored three runs.

Berwick 12, Wyoming Area 7

Berwick opened an 11-1 lead after 2 ½ innings, with the help of a seven-run second, then held off a Wyoming Area comeback in the May 10 WVC Division 2 game.

Josie Kivak, Addison Gaylord and Alexa Gasek all hit home runs for Wyoming Area.

Kivak had two hits, two RBI and two runs. Gasek and Renee Haddock also had two hits. Gaylord drove in two runs.
