Junior Patriots holding signups in May

PITTSTON —The Pittston Jr. Patriots Football and Cheerleading program will be holding registrations on Sundays, May 7, 21 and 28 at the field house on Swallow Street.

This league is for girls and boys ages 5 to 14, and they must be 5-years-old before Aug. 1.

Football teams are split into four groups: D-Team is ages 5 though 7; C-Team is ages 7 though 9; B-Team is ages 10 and 11; A-Team is ages 12 through 14.

Items needed for signups are a doctor’s note, a physical and a copy of the participant’s birth certificate.

Registrations fees are $60 for first child, $40 for a second child and $20 for a third child. Fees do not include jerseys, spikes or cheer accessories.

Queen of Apostles golf tourney is May 7

TAYLOR — Queen of the Apostles Parish will have its 10th Annual St. Mary’s Classic Golf Tournament Sunday, May 7, at the Pine Hills Country Club, 140 S. Keyser Ave.

Registration for the tournament begins at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.

The format is captain and crew. Singles will be placed on a team. The cost is $85 per golfer and includes prizes and a dinner following the tournament at the parish hall, 742 Spring St. Avoca.

There are also several types of sponsorships available.
