Senior Allie Barber is the leading scorer on the Bloomsburg University women’s soccer team which has reached the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II Atlantic Region final.

The Huskies defeated East Stroudsburg, 1-0, Nov. 11 to extend their unbeaten streak to 15 games.

Barber has six goals and four assists for Bloomsburg (16-2-3). She scored twice in a 4-1 quarterfinal win over Slippery Rock to help the team to a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship for the first time since 2002.

The District 2 Conference Commissioners Association named Barber first-team All-Atlantic Region this week.

Barber has scored four game-winning goals this season. She has started 57 straight games.

FIELD HOCKEY

Bree Bednarski, a junior from Wyoming Area, played in 10 games this season for Penn State, which advanced to the NCAA Division I Tournament before losing to Harvard, 6-1, in the first round.

Bednarski scored a goal in an 8-2 win over James Madison.

Penn State finished 12-6.

Bednarski played at Michigan as a freshman and redshirted last year, leaving her two years of eligibility remaining.

WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY

Pittston Area graduate Madison Mimnaugh opened her junior season at Bloomsburg University by leading the women’s cross country team in its first two races, including picking up an overall win in a September dual meet at Mansfield.

Mimnaugh won the 5-kilometer race at Mansfield in 19:21. She had led the team and finished third overall at the season-opening Husky Invitational.

Later in the season, Mimnaugh was 68th out of 221 and third on the team at the Lock Haven Invitational. More recently, she was the team’s fourth finisher and was 96th overall at the PSAC Championships.

Bloomsburg ran with a strong field in Pre-Nationals Oct. 20 at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, site of the NCAA Atlantic Regionals, which were scheduled for Saturday. Mimnaugh was her team’s third-highest finisher in the meet, placing 152nd out of 295 runners overall.

This is the second straight season that Mimnaugh is a regular in the Bloomsburg scoring lineup. She played soccer for the Huskies as a freshman.

Tara Johnson, another junior from Pittston Area, continues to lead the King’s College team.

Johnson was the top King’s finisher in two championship meets to end the season. She was 36th out of 134 runners to help the Monarchs placed eighth of 14 teams at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships, then was 136th out of 341 when the team placed 33rd of 47 at the Mideast Regional Nov. 10.

FOOTBALL

Mando Sallavanti, one of six Old Forge players on the Wilkes University roster, was the second-leading tackler for the Colonels.

Sallavanti had 37 tackles, 44 assists and 5 ½ sacks.

Jaret Horn added 16 tackles, eight assists and two fumble recoveries.

Freshman Brendan Mozeleski had four tackles and two assists and also carried once for five yards.

Damon Barhight, a freshman from Wyoming Area, had three tackles and two assists as a freshman defensive lineman at Wilkes.

GOLF

Tyler McGarry from Pittston Area, who started his college career at Misericordia University, made it into the lineup at Keiser University, a nationally ranked National Association of Interscholastic Athletics (NAIA) program in Palm Beach, Fla.
