Greater Pittston lost its first two games and was eliminated from the Pennsylvania District 16 Major Little League Softball Tournament.

After receiving a bye in the three-team, double-elimination event, Greater Pittston lost to Mountain Top in its first game Tuesday. It was then eliminated with Wednesday’s 11-2 loss to Nanticoke.

Julia Mehal had a double for Greater Pittston in the first game, then two hits in the second. She also pitched and had seven strikeouts against Nanticoke.

Other district baseball tournaments are underway, although schedules have been disrupted by rain.

District 16 and 31 Major Baseball begins Monday. The 9-11-year-old baseball action was scheduled to begin Saturday and the 8-10-year-old baseball tournaments open Wednesday
