BLOOMSBURG — The Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania athletic department announced its six major postseason award winners, and team MVPs, for the 2018-19 season. The major awards consist of the Danny Litwhiler Underclass Male Athlete of the Year, the Joanne McComb Underclass Female Athlete of the Year, the Robert B. Redman Senior Male Athlete of the Year, the Eleanor Wray Senior Female Athlete of the Year, and the Outstanding Senior Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year.

Allison Barber, from Pittston Twp., was named the Eleanor Wray Senior Female Athlete of the Year, the Outstanding Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year and the MVP of the women’s soccer team.

Barber won both the Eleanor Wray Senior Female Athlete of the Year and Outstanding Senior Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year for her performance both on and off the pitch in 2018. She helped the women’s soccer team to the program’s first PSAC championship since 2002, the top seed in the Atlantic Region (the program’s first trip since 2010), and an Atlantic Regional championship by finishing second on the team in scoring six goals and four assists for 16 points.

Following the year, Barber was named a United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-American, a United Soccer Coaches First Team Scholar All-American, and was a member of the Google Cloud Academic All-District® First Team. She also earned First Team All-Region honors from both the United Soccer Coaches and the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA), was a member of the All-PSAC First Team, and earned a spot on the PSAC Fall Top Ten list.

She posted a career-best four game-winning goals and scored pair of goals during Bloomsburg’s 4-1 win over Slippery Rock in PSAC Quarterfinals – the second multiple-goal game of her career. She was an All-PSAC First Team selection in 2017, a Second Team honoree in 2016, and a Third Team member as a rookie in 2015.

Barber earned All-Region honors in both 2016 and 2017, has been a four-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete, and a two-time D2 ADA Scholar-Athlete. She finished her career with 19 goals and 20 assists for 58 points and her 20 assists are tied for fourth on the school’s all-time list. She made 59 consecutive starts to close her career and did not miss a match in four seasons.

In the classroom, Barber graduated in May with a 3.89 cumulative grade point average while majoring in audiology and speech pathology.
