Emilee Shaw had aces for five of her 14 service points Thursday when Pittston Area posted its third straight Wyoming Valley Conference girls volleyball sweep and sixth victory in the last seven matches by pounding visiting Hazleton Area, 25-16, 25-7, 25-12.

Shaw also had three digs for the Lady Patriots (10-4).

Emma Coles got all six of her points on aces and also had three kills.

Michalie Mazurkivich had 11 kills, five digs and three blocks.

Wyoming Area won its second straight and third match out of the last four to improve to 5-9 in the WVC and 6-10 overall.

The Lady Warriors won Thursday’s road match, 25-17, 22-25, 25-20, 25-8.

Hannah Garinger had 14 kills and 19 digs to lead Wyoming Area.

Marissa Kovaleski had 27 assists and 14 service points. Selena Forlenza had team-highs of 15 points and eight aces.

Alison Lynch had 21 digs, 10 service points and three aces for Wyoming Area in Tuesday’s 25-23, 25-20, 25-23 WVC, home-court sweep.

Hannah Garinger had nine kills. Selena Forlenza had a team-high 32 digs.

Wyoming Area shut out visiting Hanover Area in a WVC Division 2 game Friday to move closer to hosting its first playoff game in the District 2 Class 2A playoffs.

Playing their first game in eight days the second-place Warriors improved to 8-2-1 in the division and 11-4-1 overall. They are 6-1-1 in their last eight games.
