Shane Schuback, a redshirt junior from Old Forge, is playing linebacker for nationally ranked Slippery Rock University.
Slippery Rock took a 6-0 record and a No. 9 ranking in National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II football into the weekend after beating 16th-ranked Indiana University of Pennsylvania, 45-42.
Schuback has played in all six games. He has 14 tackles, including a sack for eight yards and four tackles for losses totaling 14 yards, along with nine assists. He has also forced a fumble.
The 6-foot-2, 235-pounder had his best game in a 49-0 shutout of Millersville University. He had the sack and finished with three tackles and five assists.
Schuback followed up a career as an all-state linebacker at Old Forge by playing two seasons at Lackawanna College where he was a junior college All-American as a sophomore.
In two seasons at Lackawanna, Schuback had 92 tackles, eight sacks, 21 ½ tackles for losses, six fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and three interceptions.
