Cookie Corner Childcare Center students in West Wyoming learn about fire safety

WEST WYOMING — All the Pre-School children attending The Cookie Corner Childcare Center were recently included in a hands-on program corroborated by Floyd Young, of the Kingston Fire Department, and David Granteed, of West Wyoming Hose Co. #1.

The children were shown and given the opportunity to handle the firefighters’ special equipment and taughtskills necessary to be safe in the event of a fire.

Each child practiced crawling as if in a smoke-filled room and learned how to “Stop, Drop, Cover Your Face, Roll.”

They went outdoors to see and learn about the features on a firetruck.

Firefighter Ken Macleod brought the firehouse Dalmatian, Bella. Other participating firefighters included A.J. Burke and Kevin Lehman.

Officer Drew Malvizzi also assisted.
