EXETER — Reports card for the second marking period will be distributed on n Monday, Feb. 5 at the Wyoming Area Secondary Center. Faculty will be available for Parent/Teacher Conferences from noon to 7 p.m.

In addition to the traditional activities, the Secondary Center Administration and Guidance Department will hold information sessions for students and parents on this date pertaining to career and college planning.

Christine Jensen, administrator of Luzerne County PA CareerLink, will conduct a presentation for parent and students on high priority occupations in NEPA. This presentation will highlight the current high demand careers specific to our local region along with the necessary training and education and earning potential for those careers.

Jensen is scheduled to present several times during the day at 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. Each session will be approximately 30 minutes long.

In addition to the PA CareerLink Presentation, Wyoming Area has invited representatives from Lackawanna College and Penn State University/Wilkes-Barreto discuss programs and opportunities they have to meet the demands of the local workforce needs and how Wyoming Area students can take advantage of these programs to support their post-secondary plans.

These presentations will be valuable for students planning to enter the workforce directly after high school, those looking at a two-year or technical degree, as well as those interested in attaining a four year degree.

The presentations are provided free of charge to Wyoming Area families. Parents and guardians are to make plans to take advantage of these opportunities available in conjunction with the report card distribution and Parent Conference day.
