The annual Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21 at Meals on Wheels, 95 S. Main St., Pittston and at New Covenant Christian Church, 780 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. The dinner is open to all, especially the homeless, those in need and those who will be alone for the holiday and will include turkey and all the traditional Thanksgiving fixings.

The second annual Cookie Walk for the Christmas holiday will be conducted by the Sacred Heart Church Welcome Committee from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 and from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, Dec. 9. There will be many different choices of homemade cookies, candies and fudge prepared and donated by fellow parishioners — from the stand-by favorites like chocolate chip and peanut butter, to the specialty cookies that you only get to enjoy around Christmas. Price is $8 per pound.
