Lyla Rehill made an immediate impact for the nationally ranked Rutgers University field hockey team.

The Wyoming Area graduate scored in her college debut, producing the second goal of the season by Rutgers in a 5-1 victory over Wagner.

Second-quarter goals by Rehill and another former Wyoming Valley Conference player, Wyoming Seminary graduate Madi Olshemski, put the Scarlet Knights ahead 3-0 at halftime.

Rutgers opened the season ranked 16th among National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I field hockey teams and is 2-1 after losing 2-0 to No. 5 Syracuse Friday afternoon in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge at Ohio State. Rutgers plays its second game of the challenge Sunday against Virginia.

Rehill has started all three games, including a 2-0 victory over Vermont Aug. 31, and has seen 70 minutes of playing time. She has taken two shots, putting one on goal.

At Wyoming Area, Rehill was a two-time team scoring leader an all-state selection.
