Wyoming Area opened defense of its WVC Division 2 title Tuesday with a 2-1 overtime victory over Honesdale.

The Lady Warriors improved to 3-1 overall.

Lucia Campenni scored the overtime winner on a penalty corner, with an assist from her sister, Ella Campenni.

Ella Campenni had scored in the second quarter off an assist by Talia Pizano.

Wyoming Area led in shots and penalty corners, both by 17-1 margins, but Honesdale forced overtime when it scored on its only shot, by Jayden Beisner in the fourth quarter.

Pittston Area 3, Holy Redeemer 0

First-year coach Marnie Adonizio picked up her first victory when Pittston Area won at home in WVC Division 2 play Tuesday.

Grace Schardien scored twice for the Lady Patriots and Giuliana Latona had two assists.

They worked together on a second-quarter goal, then Latona set up an Addyson Kelly score in the third and Schardien scored unassisted in the fourth.

Pittston Area built advantages of 17-5 in shots on goal and 9-1 in penalty corners.

Karlie Podwika made five saves to post the shutout.

Nanticoke 5, Pittston Area 1

Emma Brown scored four goals, including the 50th of her career, to lead host Nanticoke to the WVC Division 2 victory Thursday.

Giuliana Latona scored for Pittston Area on an assist from Jenna Zaladonis.

Nanticoke is alone in first place in the division at 3-0.

The Lady Patriots are 1-2 in the division and 1-4 overall.
