Ryan Roman shot 1-over-par, 36 on the front nine at Fox Hill Country Club Friday to lead Dallas past Pittston Area in a key Wyoming Valley Conference golf regular-season finale.

The loss dropped Pittston Area out of a tie for first-place overall with champion Lake-Lehman. It left the Patriots in a three-way tie for the second-best record in the 15-team conference and on the wrong end of a tiebreaker with Dallas for the top seed in the WVC’s Class 3A playoffs.

The four-team playoffs to determine the WVC’s representatives in the District 2 Class 3A and Class 2A championships are scheduled to begin Monday and conclude Wednesday. Pittston Area will be home Monday at 3:30, likely against Crestwood.

More than half the players in the match – four from Dallas and three from Pittston Area – finished with 41s.
