Wyoming Area coach Bill Roberts knew an improving Berwick team presented a dangerous challenge in the opening round of the District 2 Class 2A Girls Tennis Team Championships.

Roberts’ concerns were confirmed Thursday when the sixth-seeded Lady Bulldogs came to Wyoming Area and upset the third-seeded Lady Warriors in the quarterfinals.

Berwick (11-3) avenged a 3-2 loss at Wyoming Area (12-2) Aug. 27.

The match was tightly contested with the team’s splitting pair of three-set decisions.
