Both Pittston Area teams remained unbeaten while host Wyoming Area swept its girls meets to come out of Wednesday’s Wyoming Valley Conference cross country cluster meets in the Division 2 lead.

The meet was held on the 3.1-mile course at the Luzerne County Rec Fields.

Pittston Area is 13-0 in both boys and girls cross country, leading Crestwood’s 12-0 teams going into Wednesday’s showdown involving the last of the conference unbeatens. The Patriots and Comets are both in Division 1.

Wyoming Area is 10-3 to lead the Division 2 girls standings while its boys team is 2-11.

Girls

Bella Costa finished first overall to lead five Wyoming Area finishers in the top 10 of the 33-runner field from seven schools.

Costa won by 41 seconds with a time of 21:20.

Kierstyn Orlandini and Brennan Yankovich were fifth and sixth. Sofia Menta came in eighth and Addison Gaylord 10th.

The Lady Warriors defeated Northwest 19-40 and both Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech and Berwick by scores of 15-48.

Bella Dessoye and Olivea Scalese finished second and third to lead Pittston Area’s sweep of the same three opponents. The Lady Patriots won by scores of 20-40 over Northwest, 15-48 over Berwick and 15-49 over Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech.

Michaela Walsh was ninth and Ella Schardien 13th for the Lady Patriots.

Boys

Wilkes-Barre Area’s Ben Delgado won in 18:16, but Pittston Area had four of the top seven finishes in the 50-runner field to sweep its three opponents.

Caden Boettger was second in 18:24 and Jameson Radle third in 18:33.

Albert Schardien and Jake Mead placed sixth and seventh and Jack Scagliotti completed the Pittston Area team score in 13th.

The Patriots topped Northwest 17-43, Berwick 19-40 and Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech 15-50.

Wyoming Area defeated Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech 16-42, but lost to Northwest 17-41 and Berwick 23-34.

Brayden Gaylord was the first Wyoming Area finisher, coming in 24th.
