The Greater Pittston Junior American Legion baseball team pulled out close victories on consecutive days to continue its turnaround in the Wyoming Valley League.
Greater Pittston has won three of four games since starting out 0-3 and being outscored by 30 runs in those games.
Greater Pittston 6, Back Mountain 5
Marcus Collins singled with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday and scored the winning run when Lucas Lokuta drew a two-out, bases-loaded walk.
Micky Sperrazza followed Collins with another single to help lead to the winning run.
Brayden Yonki got the last out of the top of the seventh, then was hit by a pitch to load the bases during the winning rally.
Collins pitched the first 6 2/3 innings, allowing just one earned run.
Ethan Swan went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
Collins and Sperrazza each had two hits. Avery Timms doubled. All three drove in runs.
Greater Pittston 4, Mountain Post 2
Nico Wardell tossed a five-hitter and Greater Pittston overcame a two-run deficit to defeat visiting Mountain Post Wednesday.
Wardell did not allow an earned run while walking three and striking out two. He threw 53 of his 94 pitches for strikes.
Avery Timms went 3-for-3. His two-run single tied the game in the fourth.
Max Baldoni and Wardell added two hits each.
