Avery McNulty quickly transitioned from basketball season to track and field.
Just five days after the women’s basketball season ended at Muhlenberg College, McNulty lost on a tiebreaker to finish second in the high jump at the Centennial Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.
McNulty qualified for the championships with a winning effort in her only previous college track competition, during the basketball season.
The freshman, a Scranton Prep graduate from Pittston, cleared 5-2½ in the conference meet.
McNulty played in all but one game for the 13-13 basketball team.
In 10.4 minutes per game, McNulty averaged 3.2 points and 1.5 rebounds. She shot 32.5 percent from the floor, 29.2 percent on 3-pointers and 44.0 percent on free throws. McNulty also blocked 12 shots, dished out eight assists and made six steals.
