DUNMORE – Kallie Booth earned team Most Valuable Player honors March 31 when the Pittston Area standout led Luzerne to a 96-89 victory over Lackawanna in the girls game of the second annual 570 Sports Show Senior Basketball All-Star Games at Marywood University.

Booth scored 18 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists. She led all players in assists and led the Luzerne team in points.

The Luzerne team featured seniors from the Wyoming Valley Conference and Northwest Area High School. The Lackawanna team included representatives from the entire Lackawanna League.

Luzerne opened a 45-26 halftime lead, then fought off a Lackawanna comeback from a 23-point, third-quarter deficit.

Booth scored 14 of her 18 points in the second half, including a three-pointer with 48 seconds left to turn away the late Lackawanna charge.

Scranton Prep’s Gianna Cafarella won the halftime 3-Point Contest and led all players in the game in 3-pointers and points. She was 7-for-15 to account for all 21 of her points.

Wyoming Area’s Anna Wisnewski led Luzerne with nine rebounds.

Lake-Lehman’s Hailey Kline and Wyoming Area’s Morgan Janeski each had two steals for Luzerne.

Janeski, who had four points, and Wisnewski each made a 3-pointer.

Pittston Area’s Ava Callahan also played in the game.

Joey Macciocco from Old Forge scored seven points to help Lackawanna defeat Luzerne, 144-142, in the boys game.
