Greater Pittston built an 8-5 lead and was batting against Mountain Post in the top of the fourth inning Friday night when the Wyoming Valley League playoff game was suspended because of rain.

The game, to decide a regional qualifier, was scheduled to be completed Saturday afternoon. The loser’s season ended.

Mountain Post, the first-place team in the regular season, was hosting the losers’ bracket final.

Greater Pittston extended its season Thursday with the win over Stripes & Strikes from Hazleton.

Stripes & Strikes led 2-1 before Greater Pittston scored two runs each in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings.

Brady Bilbow’s two-run double in the fifth inning put Greater Pittston ahead.

Matt Walter doubled in a run in the first inning.

Nico Cielo started and held Stripes & Strikes to two runs on five hits while striking out three in 4 2/3 innings.

Robbie Yatsko got the win with 1 2/3 hitless, scoreless innings.

Aidan Clarke had two hits.

Back Mountain 6, Greater Pittston 2

Back Mountain jumped in front with three first-inning runs on the way to Wednesday’s winners’ bracket playoff victory.

Matt Walter went 2-for-3 in the loss.

Greater Pittston 11, Nanticoke 1

Greater Pittston won in five innings Tuesday when the six-team tournament opened with a quarterfinal round to eliminate the first two teams.

Sixth-seeded Stripes & Strikes upset third-seeded Swoyersville, 8-5, in the other quarterfinal and the tournament was reseeded going into the semifinals.

Winning pitcher Nick Rinaldi struck out six and allowed just two hits, one walk and one run in four innings.

Aidan Clarke, Matt Walter, Brady Bilbow, Nico Cielo and David Fath all drove in runs during a six-run fourth inning to open a 9-1 lead.

Clarke finished 3-for-4.
