Dominick Palma and Logan Fanning scored nine points each Friday night and host Old Forge limited Pittston Area to three fourth-quarter points while securing a 33-23 victory in the boys championship game of the Anthony “Badger” Marseco Tournament.

Matt Walter scored eight points to lead Pittston Area.

It was the second straight year in which the Blue Devils defeated the Patriots in the championship game.

Old Forge outscored Pittston Area in three of the four quarters and played the Patriots even in the other to gradually take control in the defensive struggle.

Ryan DeMarco and Dennis Fox made 3-pointers for Old Forge while it was taking an 9-6 lead after one quarter. Paul Jordan McGarry had four points in the quarter for Pittston Area.

Fanning and Walter each had four points in the second quarter, which ended with Old Forge in front 17-14.

The Blue Devils went 4-for-7 from the line in the third quarter and 6-for-11 in the game. Palma had seven points in the quarter, helping the Blue Devils take a 26-20 lead into the fourth quarter.

Cameron Parker hit a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter, Fanning added a basket and Palma made the second of two free throws, giving Old Forge enough offense to expand its lead.

Walter had Pittston Area’s only fourth-quarter basket.

Pittston Area 52, Wyoming Seminary 33

Matt Walter scored 14 points and Paul Jordan McGarry added 13 Wednesday night when Pittston Area won the Marseco Tournament opener at Old Forge.

The Patriots trailed after one quarter, but Ciaran Bilbow and Chris Scavo each scored six points in a 20-9 second quarter that they used to take a 27-18 halftime lead.

Bilbow finished with nine points. Scavo got his points on a pair of 3-pointers.

McGarry had five points in the third quarter and Walter five in the fourth to help keep Pittston Area in control.
