Jake Kelleher went 4-for-4 Friday when Lackawanna College opened defense of its National Junior College Athletic Association Region 19 baseball title with a 13-5, seven-inning victory over County College of Morris in New Jersey.
The Falcons used the win, in the game shortened by the run rule, to reach Saturday’s winners’ bracket final.
The victory was Lackawanna’s ninth straight and improved the Falcons to 30-21 overall.
Kelleher had an RBI double in the nine-run second inning and finished with three RBI and two runs scored.
The freshman catcher from Wyoming Area is 14-for-26 (.538) with three doubles, two triples, nine runs and nine RBI in the last seven games. During that time, Kelleher has increased his season batting average from .389 to .422.
Kelleher has 35 RBI, 31 runs scored, 11 doubles, three triples and three homers.
