Ben Byers and T.J. Kearns each had a hand in nine goals May 5 when Wyoming Area defeated visiting Lakeland 22-7 in a Wyoming Valley Conference game.

The game was part of a doubleheader with the girls teams from the schools.

Between games, the field behind the 10th Street School was renamed Gil Dominick Field after he long-time, school board member who died last year.

Byers scored six goals and assisted on three while Kearns scored five and assisted on four.

Oliver Bolin and Aiden Hosier each scored three times while Lidge Kellum scored twice.

Abington Heights 17, Wyoming Area 6

Gavin Anders scored four goals to lead a balanced attack that carried host Abington Heights past Wyoming Area in Monday’s regular-season finale.

The Warriors finished 5-7 for eighth out of 13 teams in the WVC. They are 6-8 overall and will open the District 2 Class 2A playoffs Thursday, most likely as a seventh seed, playing at second-seeded Crestwood.

Byers and Kearns each scored three times for Wyoming Area.
