Pittston Area won the girls’ title Monday night when the Anthony ‘Badger’ Marseco Basketball Tournament concluded at Old Forge.

Daniella Ranieli and Maddie Karp led the way Monday night when Pittston Area broke open a close game with a big third quarter on the way to a 51-23 romp over Wyoming Area in the girls championship game of the Anthony “Badger” Marseco Memorial Basketball Tournament at Old Forge.
Wyoming Area stayed within 16-14 through halftime.
Ranieli then scored nine of her game-high 21 points and Karp six of her 17 in the third quarter. The Lady Patriots outscored the Lady Warriors 18-2 during that time to open an 18-point lead going into the fourth quarter.
Grace Callahan grabbed eight rebounds in the win.
Kendall Day led Wyoming Area with five points and five rebounds. Abby Sterba also had five points while Shannon Kearns also had five rebounds.
Karp scored seven points in the first quarter to help Pittston Area to a 10-9 lead after one quarter. Ranieli had all six Lady Patriots points in the second quarter.
Old Forge 60, Hanover Area 32
Jewlya McCullon scored 28 points to lead Old Forge to third place with Monday’s consolation win.
McCullon had 10 points in the first quarter when the Lady Devils established a 20-4 lead. She finished her scoring with 13 points while Old Forge was expanding a 37-16 halftime lead to 60-25.
Ava Arnold added 10 points in the win.
Caitlin Vigorita led Hanover Area with 15 points.
Pittston Area 69, Hanover Area 15
Daniella Ranieli scored 21 points, including 12 in the first quarter, Dec. 28 when Pittston Area opened the tournament with an easy victory.
Ranieli helped the Lady Patriots to a 26-6 lead after one quarter.
Pittston Area held Hanover Area to two points in the second half.
Lili Hintze added 10 points and a total of 11 Lady Patriots contributed to the scoring.
Wyoming Area 45, Old Forge 43
Wyoming Area led the entire second half of the Dec. 28 semifinal game, then secured the win when Abby Sterba and Jailynn Park each made two free throws in the final 13 seconds.
Sterba had put the Lady Warriors ahead for good on a free throw with 3.8 seconds left in the first half for an 18-17 lead.
Krea Bonita led Wyoming Area with 16 points. Park added 12 and Sterba had 10.
Park grabbed six rebounds while Bonita, Sterba and Kendall Day all had five.
Old Forge’s Jewlya McCullon scored a game-high 18 points.
