PITTSTON – The 2019 Paint Pittston Pink (PPP) campaign will get underway at the end of the week with Dueling Pianos at the Pittstons Knights.

Duel Pianos will feature the Piano Fight Club made up of longtime pianists Eric Henkels and Pat Smith from Philadelphia, specializing in music from Elton John to Amy Winehouse.

The duo play State College, Cherry Hill, NJ, Phoenixville and Scranton on a regular basis.

They bring their intensity and love for music to a unique, request-driven experience, mixing medleys, raps and remixes.

PPP founders and committee members feel it’s important to add new events to the lineup for the fall drive.

“I believe in reinventing ourselves year after year,” said Barbara Sciandra, co-founder of PPP. “It’s so important for me and our committee to prevent our events from becoming stale. We really try our best to become more and more creative with everything that we do.”

The Dueling Pianos event will take place in memory of Lisa Jones Kutra, an Avoca native, who passed away this past spring from breast cancer. Kutra was an advocate for PPP and wanted to create awareness of metastatic breast cancer.

“I’ve loved music since I was a kid, especially fun, live music,” Sciandra said. “I’m so excited to bring this new experience to downtown Pittston. I am also honored that the Jones-Kutra families are allowing us to hold this night in memory of Lisa. Lisa inspired our entire community with her positive attitude and her will to live. Her memory will live on next Friday night through the music that will be playing in her honor.”

There will be a $10 donation at the door. Complimentary light foods will be served and a cash bar will be available.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the establishment of the Paint Pittston Pink Fund at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
