SCRANTON – Pittston Area finished third in the girls standings and fourth in boys out of 10 teams in the Class 3A Division Thursday night in the 68th annual Jordan Relays at Scranton Memorial Stadium.
The Lady Patriots won the 4×100-meter relay with the team of Annika Lien, Jenna Grieco, Ali Butcher and Aria Messner.
Pittston Area finished in 50.15, beating out second-place Delaware Valley’s 50.96.
The boys from Pittston Area finished second in both the 1200 Sprint Medley Relay and the 4×800 relay.
Jalen Moore, Lucas Lopresto, Oscar Ciriaco and Gage Leffler formed the 1200 Sprint Medley Relay. Moore and Leffler ran opening 400-meter legs. Lopresto and Ciriaco ran 200s.
Preston Klem, Caden Boettger, Franklin Garcia and Tucker ran the 4×800.
Pittston Area was also third in the Distance Medley Relay with Boettger running the 800, Tucker and Garcia running 400s and Klem finishing with the 1600.
The Patriots were fourth in the 4×400.
The Pittston Area girls finished fourth in the 4×800.
Hazleton Area girls 71, Pittston Area 61
Hazleton Area defeated host Pittston Area Tuesday.
Aria Messner won the 100 and long jump and also anchored the winning 400 relay team.
The Lady Patriots finished 3-3 in the division.
Hazleton Area boys 91, Pittston Area 45
Hazleton Area completed an unbeaten run through Division 1 with Tuesday’s win at Pittston Area.
Jalen Moore won the 100 and 200 for the Patriots, who finished 1-5 in the division.
