The Greater Pittston Senior American Legion baseball team continues to pile up runs.
Greater Pittston used a pair of victories over Plains in shortened games on consecutive days to create a three-game winning streak and extend its streak of games scoring in double figures to six games. It is 6-2 in Wyoming Valley League play.
The team batting average is up to .408 and Greater Pittston is averaging 12.3 runs per game.
Beau Widdick had back-to-back, four-hit games and is batting .650 in five games. Gavin Wardecki (.583) and Nick Innamorati (.538) are both over .500 while playing in every game.
Greater Pittston 15, Plains 3
Beau Widdick went 4-for-5 with a home run, triple, four runs scored and four RBI to lead the five-inning victory at Plains Tuesday.
Greater Pittston led 5-0 after 1½ innings.
Plains closed to within 6-3 before Greater Pittston scored nine times in the fifth to end the game.
Gavin Wardecki had a double in the fifth inning when Greater Pittston combined five hits, six walks and a hit batter into winning on the 10-run rule.
David Fath drove in three runs. Jake Aftewicz had a double and three runs scored. Prestyn Reeves, who had two hits, and Bruno Pizzano each scored twice.
Wardecki struck out three batters in a hitless fifth inning to finish off a combined three-hitter with Caleb Pavinski.
Greater Pittston 12, Plains 2
Nick Innamorati and Beau Widdick had four hits each in the top two spots in the batting order Monday to lead Greater Pittston to the six-inning victory.
Innamorati scored three times and drove in a run.
Widdick had a triple while scoring three runs and driving in four. His double brought Greater Pittston within a run of ending the game on the 10-run rule.
Gavin Wardecki then doubled in Widdick with the decisive run, capping a six-run outburst with one out.
Jake Aftewicz drove in two runs.
Widdick also stole two bases.
Ashton Lepore and Cole Ricko overcame nine walks to combine on a three-hitter. Lepore struck out six in 5 1/3 innings. Ricko was not charged with a run while getting the final two outs.
