Lyla Rehill scored the first three goals and four total Wednesday when Wyoming Area clinched no worse than a tie for first in Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 field hockey with an 8-0 rout of Delaware Valley at Atlas Field.

The Lady Warriors are 9-0 in the division and lead the race the top seed in District 2 Class A with a 12-0 record. They are the only unbeaten field hockey team in the district.

Rehill also had an assist.

Lucia Campenni scored twice while Addison Dragwa and Talia Pizano each added a goal.

Pittston Area 3, Hanover Area 1

Pittston Area ran its winning streak to four with Thursday’s WVC Division 2 victory at Hanover Area.

Hanover Area scored midway through the first period, but Pittston Area recovered with goals by Maddie Karp, Angie Stuccio and Karinne Podwika.

All the game’s scoring took place in the first half.

The Lady Patriots improved to 11-1 in the division to keep pace with Dallas in a first-place tie. They are 11-5 overall and third in the District 2 Class

Pittston Area 12, Berwick 0

Maddie Karp scored four goals as Pittston Area pounded visiting Berwick in Tuesday’s WVC Division 2 game.

Karp’s goals included the 25th of her season and 60th of her career.

Lola Serino and Julia Homschek added three goals each. Jenna Zaladoni and Karinne Podwika each had a goal and an assist.

Karlie Podwika made three saves for the shutout.

Pittston Area 5, Nanticoke 1

Pittston Area defeated host Nanticoke in the Sept. 28 WVC Division 2 game.

Wyoming Area 9, Hazleton Area 2

Lucia Campenni fired in six goals Monday when Wyoming Area defeated Hazleton Area in a WVC Division 1 road game.

Ella McKernan scored twice while Lyla Rehill had a goal and three assists.

Wyoming Area 2, Tunkhannock 1

Ava Musinski and Emily Kostik scored in the first 6:03 Friday, then Wyoming Area held on for the victory Friday in the WVC Division 2 game at Tenth Street Field.

Jailynn Park and Alana Zdaniewicz had the assists.

Wyoming Area had a 17-3 lead in shots and a 15-1 advantage in corner kicks, but could not connect in the last 73:57.

The win was the ninth straight for Wyoming Area, which is 12-1-1 overall and leading the race for the top seed in the District 2 Class A playoffs. The Lady Warriors are 8-1-1 in the division, trailing only Holy Redeemer (8-1).

Wilkes-Barre Area 4, Pittston Area 1

Jordan Prushinski scored twice in the second half to help the Wolfpack pull away for the victory in Monday’s WVC Division 1 game.

Kelcey Podwika scored for the Lady Patriots.

Pittston Area is 1-8 in the division and 1-12 overall.

Wyoming Area shut out host Wyoming Seminary in Tuesday’s WVC Division 2 game.

Nanticoke Area 1, Pittston Area 0

Gio Huertero scored in the second overtime Monday to lift Nanticoke to the win at Pittston Area in a non-league game.

The Warriors are 7-7 overall and seventh in the District 2 Class 2A playoff race where eight teams will qualify.

Western Wayne defeated visiting Wyoming Area Wednesday in non-league action.

Nanticoke 2, Pittston Area 1

Pittston Area lost at Nanticoke Monday in a WVC Division 1 game.

The Patriots are 5-8-1 overall.

Wyoming Area went to Berwick Monday and came away with the win in WVC Division 2 action.
