Aria Messner scored points in the long jump for Bloomsburg University’s women’s indoor track and field team during events at Bucknell University each of the past two weekends.
The freshman from Pittston Area was competing among fields that included athletes from National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I teams. Bloomsburg is a Division II team.
At the Gulden Invitational in January, Messner tied for fourth out of 30 long jumpers from 11 schools with a jump of 17-3½. She was15th of 20 high jumpers, clearing 4-10½.
Messner was seventh out of 18 long jumpers Feb. 1 in the 26th annual Bison Open with 16-7¾. She also placed 29th of 50 entries from 16 schools in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.76 seconds.
