Greater Pittston began the Wyoming Valley Junior American Legion Baseball League season this week, losing three straight games, including the first two by shutout.
Nanticoke 10, Greater Pittston 5
Connor Mason and Dylan Natali drove in three runs each from the first two spots in the batting order Thursday to lead the Nanticoke Moonshots to victory.
Mason, who stole three bases and scored four times, and Natali each went 2-for-3.
Greater Pittston leadoff hitter Ryan Tonte went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and a run scored.
Josh Chaump drove in two runs and Jayden Falkowski scored twice. Chaump had a sacrifice fly and was hit by a pitch.
Nanticoke 1, Greater Pittston 0
Nanticoke’s Camden Kratz and Greater Pittston’s Ryan Tonte matched four-hitters in Wednesday’s game in Yatesville.
Cole Kablick’s RBI single in the first inning held up for the winning run.
Kratz struck out five and walked two.
Tonte fanned four and did not walk a batter.
Josh Chaump went 2-or-3 in the loss.
Stripes & Strikes 9, Greater Pittston 0
Chase Grier struck out nine while holding visiting Greater Pittston scoreless on two hits for five innings in Monday’s game.
Stripes & Strikes, from Hazleton, broke open a 3-0 game with six runs in the fifth inning.
Gavin Gisalfi, Josh Chaump, Jack Borino and Mason Wolf had singles for Greater Pittston.
Greater Pittston’s record stands at 1-3 because the team received a forfeit from Mountain Post in what had been scheduled to be the team’s opener June 8.
